Fin.com, a New York-based cross-border payments company, announced a $20 million seed round led by Expa and Uber co-founder Garrett Camp, with Coinbase Ventures, sovereign and royal family offices across the Gulf and Africa, and other investors also participating. The company says it has completed seven acquisitions of licensed local payment operators across the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia, with twelve targeted by the end of the year.
Fin.com said annual recurring revenue has grown more than 50-fold since the start of the year, and that its technology now reaches 825 million users through the payments platforms, exchanges and prediction markets it powers. The company said it is already profitable.
Expanding through acquisition
Fin.com says it holds licences and regulatory approvals in markets that are difficult for many global payment providers to enter, and that its footprint is concentrated in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia, where cross-border money movement remains fragmented. Rather than apply for licences market by market, the company says it acquires operators that already have them, a model it likens to a private equity playbook run at venture speed.
The company does not name the operators it has acquired, their prices, or the specific licences involved.
Fin.com says it now has more than 200 people across six offices in New York, Las Vegas, Dubai, Dhaka, Bangalore and Lahore, and that it has processed billions in payment volume across more than 51 countries, with most transactions settling in minutes.
Fin.com was co-founded by Nabeel Alamgir and Mustafa Dar, also a venture partner at Expa, which led the round.
“At Expa, we back founders who build through complexity,” said Vitor Lourenço, founding partner at Expa. “Nabeel and Mustafa are tackling one of finance’s hardest problems, one market at a time. Like Bending Spoons, they combine acquisitions with speed, operating discipline and the ability to make strong businesses more valuable together. We’re excited to help them build Fin.com into a defining global financial brand.”
An advisory board of payments veterans
Fin.com says its advisory board includes Michael Tannenbaum, chief executive of tokenisation platform Figure Technology Solutions and previously chief financial officer at Brex, alongside Bitso’s Imran Ahmad, Mercury’s Matt Heiman, Revolut’s Bruce Wallace, former Binance board director Christy Choi, and Mesh founder Bam Azizi. The board gives Fin.com links to established payments, fintech and digital-asset companies as it builds its public profile.
Entering a market moving $195 trillion a year
Circle, citing FXC Intelligence data, estimates that global cross-border payment flows reached roughly $195 trillion in 2024 and could approach $320 trillion by 2032, a trend also tracked by The Payments Association. That estimate covers cross-border flows broadly, not traffic on a single rail such as SWIFT.
Fin.com said it would use the new capital to expand into additional payment corridors, continue acquiring licensed operators, and pursue a bank acquisition within the next six months.
